Frequently Asked Questions:
Who should apply ?
Avon based applicants and programs are given first priority such as
non-profit group leaders, youth organizers, senior program directors, educators,
community leaders/organizers of programs associated with the Arts, Humanities
and the Interpretive Sciences which are free of charge for children and adults
in the town of Avon.
What do you mean by Arts, Humanities and Interpretive Sciences ?
Arts involve the creation and presentation of work in visual, musical,
media and literary programs.
Humanities include history, social studies, philosophy and art appreciation.
Interpretive Science is educational activities engaging all ages in learning about nature, science and technology in ways that connect to our lives.
When can I apply ?
Each year October 15 is designated as a deadline to apply. There will be notice posted
in the newspapers in September.
How can I apply ?
There will be information and forms available at Avon Town Hall, both schools and the Library also in September. The Mass. Cultural Council has a web site as well for the public to visit to become familiar with the program and download forms – www.massculturalcouncil.org
If I am approved when do I get my money ?
As with most grant money from the State it is on a reimbursement contingency. The Council will meet shortly after the Oct. 15 deadline, review the applications and advise the applicants of their decisions. Ultimately information and payments to the recipients can start to be made sometime after December once their program is completed.
