Department Hours of Operation: 1st & 3rd Thursday of each month, by appointment – starting at 7:00 PM
Description: Purpose of the Planning Board: By-Laws are enacted for purposes which include, but are not intended to be limited to the following:
- Lessen congestion in the streets
- Conserve health
- Secure safety from fire, flood, panic and other dangers
- Provide adequate light and air
- Prevent overcrowding of land
- Avoid undue concentration of population
- Encourage housing for persons in all income levels
- Facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, water supply, drainage, sewerage, schools, parks, open space and other public requirements
- Conserve the value of lands and buildings, including the conservation of natural resources and prevention of blight and pollution of the environment
- Encourage the most appropriate use of land throughout the town, including consideration of the recommendations of the Master Plan adopted by the Planning Board
- Preserve and increase amenities
Do I need to Meet with the Planning Board?
- Residential- submission of project under:
- Subdivision Control
- Form A
- ANR (Approval Not Required)
- Site Plan Review, which requires a special permit in watershed protection district
- Commercial, Business and Industrial
- Site Plan Review is required for any and all construction or alterations of buildings, drainage, paving or improvement to nay lot.
- Site plan review, which requires a special permit in the watershed protection district.
