Description
The Board of Selectmen are the Executive Board of the Town.

Examples of the responsibilities of the Board of Selectmen:

To take legal action, on behalf of the town, as needed and defend suits brought against the town.
Oversee the preparation, printing and distribution of the Annual Town Report
Prepare and Post Warrants for Town Meetings
Act as the Licensing Board for the Town of Avon
Buy and Sell property of the town, as authorized by the vote of Town Meeting
Make Rules and Regulations cover the Town Ways
Permitting for Street Excavations.
Make all appointments not otherwise provided by state or town by-law
Naming of Town Ways
Naming of Town Facilities
